The city is home to the prestigious Santa Clara University, which is one of the oldest colleges in California and one of the best in the entire country. Entertainment options include San Francisco 49ers games and major concerts at the state-of-the-art Levi’s Stadium.

Santa Clara is one of Silicon Valley’s main hubs for retailers and restaurants. Westfield Valley Fair features 20 restaurants and 225 stores over 2.5 million square feet of retail space. Here, you’ll find everything from leather handbags to silk scarves, the season’s finest apparel, and a plethora of outstanding eateries.
Din Tai Fung is a standout among Westfield Valley Fair’s culinary outposts, offering elevated dim sum and a robust menu of Taiwanese cuisine. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse at Santa Clara Square pairs aged prime beef, lobster tails, and other seafood specialties with wines and handcrafted cocktails. The Fish Market offers both a fresh seafood retail market and a restaurant.
For wine and fine dining, Le Papillon is hard to beat. This upscale establishment serves sophisticated contemporary French cuisine alongside a wine list spanning 500 bottles. Il Fornaio is a great choice for Italian dining with a wide-ranging menu of well-executed dishes.
Things to Do
Levi’s Stadium is the home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. This world-class sports and entertainment venue holds 68,000 people and hosts major concerts from some of the biggest names in music. California’s Great America amusement park is another major Santa Clara attraction featuring nine rollercoasters and dozens of other thrilling rides across an area of 112 acres.
Santa Clara University is one of the top colleges in the country and also one of the oldest in California. While the university was established in 1851, the centerpiece of its campus is the Mission Santa Clara de Asis, founded in 1776. The Mission is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
Santa Clara is primarily served by the Santa Clara Unified School District, while some portions of the city fall within the Fremont Union High School District.
