The downtown strip of this highly sought-after neighborhood features independently owned local shops, boutiques, and dining options.
Willow Glen has a wide variety of homes to choose from. The styles on display along this eclectic neighborhood’s captivating streets include everything from classic California bungalows and Craftsman homes to Colonial, Queen Anne, Mission Revival, and Spanish stucco properties. Many of these diverse homes are renovated properties originally built in the 1920s and ‘30s.

Willow Glen’s quaint historic downtown has a very welcoming and friendly down-to-earth atmosphere. Bertucelli’s La Villa Gourmet, established in 1972, is a local favorite for homemade Italian food. The menu includes a vast selection of Italian deli sandwiches, seafood and meat dishes, and unbeatable handmade ravioli. The Table serves a high-end menu of seasonal American cuisine prepared in an open kitchen using fresh local ingredients. This stylish dining destination also offers hand-crafted cocktails and a progressive wine list.
Black Sheep Brasserie puts a contemporary Californian twist on the classic French brasserie dining experience. The menu here includes mouthwatering mesquite-grilled filet mignon, a signature burnt French onion soup in a rich beef broth, and hors d’oeuvres, including oysters by the dozen. Black Sheep’s entrees also include a variety of land and sea delights alongside vegetarian options that are far from an afterthought. Willow Glen Creamery is a hidden gem for fabulous scoops of ice cream.
Things to Do
There are many popular community events that take place in Willow Glen throughout the year. Willow Glen Farmers’ Market takes place near the downtown area at Willow Glen Elementary School every Saturday all year round. Vendors here sell fresh organic produce alongside a variety of delicious specialty foodstuffs. The Fall Wine Walk invites residents and visitors alike to stroll through Willow Glen’s downtown streets while sampling exquisite wines from almost a dozen local wineries.
In September, Goombah’s Annual Car Show brings an eclectic array of classic automobiles to the downtown area to raise funds for local charities. Dancin’ on the Avenue is a summertime downtown highlight featuring several stages of live music and even more food vendors serving tasty eats. Taking place in early December, Willow Glen Holiday Bubbly Walk is a sip and stroll celebration where downtown retailers hand out glasses of bubbly.
